Marketing

Marketing Police: I caught this culprit at Ojota. I would have arrested him but he claims this vest was giving to him by the Ojota Park managers. In fact, almost all the hawkers at Ojota had this vest on that day.  Can you imagine the extent to which Nigerians have abused the marketing profession? *SMH*.

When sick, you go to a doctor and when you have an issue that concern legal matters you go to a lawyer.  If initially you try to handle matters with your little knowledge, when it begins to get out of hand you get the service of a specialist- the doctor, the lawyer.

Yes a specialist... Marketing is a specialty.  It is not something that just any tom, dick and Kunle can just embark on. When as a business entity you get stuck on your attempts at marketing, implore the services of a marketing professional.  Implore his/her service on:

How to project a good corporate image
How to sell you and your service
How and who to employ to handle your marketing; In short regarding the whole marketing process of your company.

Don’t try to play the hero when it comes to the marketing affairs of your business entity. If you are not trained as an electrician will you try to fix an electricity transformer?

How can you just assume you know what you don’t know?
How can you just base the fate of your service or products on what you’ve heard or think marketing is?

You know that you need marketing but you don’t know how to go about it.
Admit it and stop struggling

Marketing is a vital function of a business.

Definition of Marketing:

"Marketing" is a business term referring to the promotion of products, advertising, pricing, distribution channels, and branding. The term developed from the original meaning which referred literally to going to market, as in shopping, or going to a market to sell goods or services.Wikipedia

Marketing is building a brand in the mind of the prospect. Marketing is branding.  Marketing is what a company is in business to do.  It is a company’s ultimate objective” Al Ries and Laura Ries
Marketing is not a function. It is the whole business seen from a 360 degree point of view- Peter Drucker; 1954

This blog on one hand is about the restoration of the battered perception of marketing in the mind of the average Nigerian- whether entrepreneur or the young marketing graduate who seriously does not want marketing job.

We would provide correct and helpful marketing tips to as many that need marketing in their field of business (Psst, who doesn’t?) and don’t have a large budget.

On the other hand, it is about providing a platform for people with skills (who offer services or have products for sale), entrepreneurs or small businesses to showcase their service or products. . This is a different kind of marketing avenue since it will be done in details and style.

Also, it would act as a connecting point for marketing professionals and businesses in need of them. Find out more here.

Why do I need marketing?

“A business entity should communicate with its various relevant public especially its consumers. Nevertheless, activities could be designed to communicate, informative and persuasive messages to its customers or patrons. Therefore, it is this ‘communication activity’ that is needed to be thoroughly born or strategically put together to the full advantage of a business entity.”

Let the Marketing revolution begin...
